"A glass of champagne, exquisitely entertaining chamber music, what better way is there to spend a summer's evening?"

To celebrate the launch of the 2008 Autumn Music Festival, presented by Past Echoes, a limited number of tickets have now been released for an evening of music making and frivolity, all in the name of entertainment and summer's enjoyment.

Each work in this program has been chosen due to its focus on celebration, and the all-encompassing joy of music itself.

We open the program with a call to all, Purcell's Come ye sons of art. This work is a "welcome to all the pleasures" that music creates. The selection then continues with one of Handel's dedication to the Patron Saint of music, Saint Cecilia. What better way to offer thanks to Cecilia, than with the sublime sounds of soloist, George Liakatos. And finally, we wrap up the music celebrations with Bach's raucous rendition of "a day in the peasant life", with his secular cantata, The Chamberlain is now our Squire. Singing of love, life, music and of course the most important....., wine, here the ensemble enjoys Bach's lighter moments, as a prequel to the launch proper of the festival over a glass of bubbly.

Come along for a rollicking celebration of music, and experience a glimpse of the festival delights to come.
